ComfortDelgro Taxi $54 Total Prize For A Challenge Pales To Grab's $100,00 Credit Giveaways

Screenshot from https://www.facebook.com/ComfortDelGroTaxi/ ComfortDelgro Taxi launched a contest on Sunday 23 July 2017 to get its taxi riders to upload ComfortDelgro's Taxi flat fares and 1 other fixed fare and is giving away a total prize of $54 promo codes to the top three highest savings. In comparison, when Grab ran a contest to introduce its JustGrab service, which connects both taxis and private hire vehicles, Grab gave out 10,000 free rides. If each ride average out to $10, 10,000 free rides would have cost Grab $100,000. In their tertiary Grab-off challenge, Grab was offering $10,000 worth of ride credits to the students. Image from https://www.grab.com/sg/ballinwithgrab/ ComfortDelgro Taxi's low total prize value seems ridiculously low given that its taxi business recorded $167.5 million end of 2016 (Source: http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/comfortdelgro-chalks-record-profit-of-317m). One would expect that a conglomerate like ComfortDe...

Why You Should Use Active Voice In Your Sales Email Pitch

I love to write content, especially email sales pitches, in the active voice to prospects and leads. The active voice often results in a clearer and more concise sentence which is easier to read than in the passive voice. Sentences in the passive voice tend to put more unnecessary words in your sentences and often it make your sentences sound vague. As a salesperson, you want to come across as clear and concise, not long winded and vague. An example of a sentence in the active voice looks like this - "We deduced that your downtime is caused by sudden CPU spikes". On the other hand, the passive voice looks like this - "The downtime was deduced by us to be caused by sudden CPU spikes". Which of the above do you prefer? If you have problems remembering the differences between active and passive voice, here is a simple guide. Active - Who does what? Passive - What is being done by whom? Even from this guiding sentences, the active voice keeps the sente...

Closing A Sale Is About Opening A Relationship

My experience as a salesperson for the second year has shown to me that most deals are closed, not because of the gift of the gab, but because I am often willing to open a relationship with the customers. Though my first year was bad, my second year saw some significant increase in sales numbers. It is in this second year of sales that I built several relationships with channel partners and a few VIP customers to close the deal. That has worked to my strengths. I love meeting people, new and already met, and show that I am willing to do my best to help them solve their problems. Sometimes, it is required to ask questions in order to find out their problem. Once you are able to help customers identify the problem, the selling process can start. Once you open the relationship, like in any relationship, you need to honest and frank with the customers. Even when there is some bugs found in the software, honesty is usually the best policy with customers. After you make the deal,...
